Why is my result different from my plan speed?
Plan speeds are marketing peaks on a quiet, wired path. Wi‑Fi interference, older mesh nodes, VPNs, browser extensions, background sync, ISP congestion and the device’s own NIC all reduce what you see in a browser test. For the fairest reading, plug in with Ethernet, pause large downloads and cloud backups, and compare a few runs at different times of day. A large gap between wired and wireless usually points to the office Wi‑Fi, not the NBN handoff.
What is bufferbloat and why does it matter for business?
Bufferbloat is the extra latency added when your router or modem queues traffic during a busy download or upload. Download may still look “fast” while Teams freezes, VoIP clips, or RDP feels laggy — because real-time packets wait behind bulk transfers. We compare idle ping to loaded latency during the download phase and grade the extra delay. Low bufferbloat (grade A/B) matters more for Melbourne hybrid teams than chasing another 50 Mbps on paper.
